It was my father's birthday and I make a video for him as a gift. I did that last week (The week of October 30). To create this video, I wanted to experiment with the Typewriter effect to give the viewers a first hand experience of the video and make it feel like I was talking to them in real time.

I knew the audience for this video was going to be people at my dad's Birthday party in Nigeria, so I made the introduction of the video especially for them. The part where I did various 'greetings' and was being chastised by the person on the camera in the video was mainly to provide initial humor to the viewers.

(Context: There is a phenomenon that happens where people go abroad from Nigeria for school, work, etc. and try to 'forget' where they came from. They try their best to acts in ways that shows that they are no more in Nigeria: They speak in a different accents, They 'forget' cultural customs like greeting and respect. Basically, the introduction to this video was making fun of that phenomenon).

I used  the stick figures pictures to show my father's early life for two reasons:

i. I did not have any pictures of his early life to use in the video.

ii. I thought that it would be funny to have badly drawn stick figures in the video to depict his early life.

The sound track used in the video was used for different reasons:

Vivaldi Four Seasons: Coupled with the footage of me wearing the jacket and my glasses, this soundtrack was meant to suggest that I had an air of refinement/culture.

The next song "Ojuelegba" by Wizkid was chosen because it is a song that my father likes, but it also portrays a past life and looking at that life in a reminiscent way. That was why it was played along with the stick figure pictures.

The song after that, "Do Something" by Koker is a song about money and showing how money can make life better/give access to more options and that was why it was included in the scene with my dad's more recent pictures.

The final song used in the video, "Chardonnay Music" by Falz is also a song that my father likes but I used in the specific context that I used it (When my brothers were giving my dad birthday wishes) because the song is a chill song and has a vibe that says, "I'm about to finish" and I thought that would be a good way to finish the video.
