Personal Inventory
If you are here, good job! Look at you operating computers and using the internet like an adult! Anyway, this webpage was designed so I could reveal 3 items to you that reveal aspects of my personality to you so without further ado here they are:
1) My Dogtags:
"Are you in the military?" This is a question that I get asked a lot of the time because I wear dogtags, and most of the time I'm asked that question, it's awkward because I have to reply with the answer I always give, " *smiling nervously* No I'm not, I got these off of Amazon...*headscratch*."
Usually when I give this answer, people smile and leave me alone but there was this one time some lady had a problem with me having dogtags...
Anyway, let me tell you why I wear dogtags *clears throat, warms up muscles and does vocal exercises*:
*cue the tranquil ocean sounds, I know you're reading this and not listening, just USE YOUR IMAGINATION!*
A very long time ago, in 2013, Folajimi came to America. He was an learned man , having lived many years: a decade, a lustrum, 2 years and 9 months (He was 17, Folajimi was 17 years old).
As a stranger in a foreign, mystical land (America, America is more weird than mystical but anyway back to the story!), Folajimi decided to acquire a trinket that would serve as a marker of the illustrious man he was, or as he called it , a "Piece of Permanent Personal Jewelry" (also know as PPPJ). Being that Folajimi was not a man of many means, he could not afford to, as the cool kids say, blow stacks on an expensive gold necklace at an expensive jeweler, so he, instead, settled for the humble means of acquiring goods and services that was Amazon.com .
He settled on a piece of dogtags that cost $5 (nice save👍) and he was able to get them customized he settled on the following silly inscriptions:
FIRST TAG:
NAME: JIMI
RANK: BOSS
BLOODGROUP: RED
NUMBER: F0L2J1M1
SECT.: MY HOUSE
SECOND TAG:
SO KEEP CALM
&
TOLERATE ME
B-)
(It was 2013 so this tagline "KEEP CALM &..." was still a thing 😕. I also anticipated that people would think my first tag was silly so the second tag was a request for them to tolerate me. I tend to try to anticipate things in real life/be empathetic so I adapted that into creating my dogtags).
I feel like my dogtags are a representation of who I am because I got them to help me stand out, to let people know the kind of person I am (fun and easy going) and I kept that in mind when I was designing them.
Anyway, Keep Calm & Tolerate Me😎
2) My Hair:
I think I just sabotaged myself by using a better looking picture for my "before" and using a worse looking one for my "after"😕. As shown in the "before" picture I had always maintained a haircut that looked like that or was some variation of that. However, I got tired of doing the same thing and I wanted a change so I relaxed my hair and it looks like what is in the "after" section...sometimes.
I relaxed my hair because sometimes, as a black man, I felt that the hairstyles that were available to me were limited. Every other (black) guy you see has the same fade haircut (as pictured in my "before" haircut or below)
Every guy and his brother has this haircut!
Although I wanted a different hairstyle, I did not want to get braids or dreadlocks, so I settled on relaxing my hair.
I think that my personality is personified in my current hairstyle, with the keyword being EXPERIMENT. My decision to change my hair was an experiment, the numerous styles that I am going to undertake while my hair is like will be experimenting. As a person, I have always sought to keep an open mind and experiment with an array of things, and as a result I have dabbled into many creative endeavors/formed a few lasting relationships.
3) My Journal:
What can I say, this literally has some of my deepest thoughts and feelings, so it definitely can tell people about me. Every once in a while, I keep a journal and I use it to document things (how I'm feeling, how my day went, etc.) The rules I set about my journal entries are:
- You should only write in your journal when you feel like it.
- When you write, just write literally what comes to your mind.
I make journal entries using Google Keep and I have found that it is a very carthartic process and it can give you insight into the kind of person you are that you never realized before.
This is what my journal entries typically look like, I try to keep them at the same format to ensure uniformity.
This is the end of my personal inventory...on this site, but if you want to know more, feel free to hmu in person😁

She thought that her opinions were going to stop me from wearing my dogtags😂 🤣
