Don't You Worry About Strangers in The City
This project is a video that can best be described as "The story of a young man's journey through the streets of New York." One thing that might strike you about this project is that it has a peculiar name. The reason for the peculiar name of this project is because of the elements contained in it:
The music contained in the video is a mashup between "Don't You Worry Child" by Swedish House Mafia and "Strangers" (Drum and Bass Remix by Matrix and Futurebound). So from the two elements mentioned, we get "Don't You Worry About Strangers". "In the City" comes from the fact that the video is shot in the New York City and is meant to cover many sights of the city.
For the first part of the video (post intro and pre-bridge), there is a story/succession of events:
- Leaves house
- Walks to the Brooklyn Bridge
- Take the train to the Staten Island Ferry
- Get on the Ferry and show sights from the ferry
- Get back on the train
-Show what happened on the train
- Go to times square

After these succession of events, all the other scenes are ornamental/without much story.

For several of these scenes, I was able to experiment with different transitions to drive the story forward and maintain cohesion within the story. However I tried to maintain a variety of different transitions throughtout the video so that the video stayed fresh and did not get boring.

The scene at Grand Central Station (Unfocused video) was a combination of a time lapse and a slow motion video. I made that part of the video unfocused because I thought that it went with the mood of the music (which is at that point was anticipatory, hence the unfocused nature of the video was made to induce anticipation in the viewer).

The shots that were shown during the bridge of the music was meant to induce confusion in the viewer. I thought that it would be nice to induce some confusion to the viewing experience by shooting a spinning shot and then ramping it up till the tension got released as the song continued and the camera focused on me again.

Throughout the video, I included statements and writing to help include humor throughout the video.

In general, making this video was a big experiment for me:
- I had to make a 'mashup' of two songs, that was more difficult than I anticipated.
- I was able to experiment with different transitions that I thought helped move the video along.
-This was the first video that I made that was completely shot and edited by me outside of an enclosed space.
